The Burien Makerspace is unique. Where else can you find 3D printers, computer-controlled routers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and a podcast studio under the same roof?
by Stuart Jenner. On Thursday, April 25, 2024, anyone interested can stop by between 6 and 8 pm to see the equipment and learn about opportunities. For more information, visit this page. No registration is necessary, and the open houses are held monthly, so if this one doesn’t work for you, maybe future ones will.[caption id="attachment_16404" align="aligncenter" width="492"]
MakerSpace (www.discoverburien.com)[/caption]Some of the equipment requires training classes. Classes are listed on a calendar page that is linked to the Makerspace home page. In addition to classes about the equipment, there are also several other topics, including painting, making pop-up cards, and more. Some classes are offered once as a test, and if there is sufficient interest, they will be added again. As a way to introduce people to the many opportunities available at Makerspace, there’s a five-part series starting on April 30.Discover Burien sponsors the Makerspace, which is located at 611 SW 152nd. However, it is best reached from 153rd. Park in the lot at 606 SW 153rd. On your left (north), you’ll see a painted movie screen for outdoor movies. Walk to the alley, and then you’ll see a ramp going down to an orange garage door. That’s the Makerspace location.[caption id="attachment_16402" align="aligncenter" width="480"]
