La Costa owner outlined property boundaries today. Public camping on private property is not okay, so large rocks are being replaced and tents are being shifted.
by Katie Kresly. This morning, April 16, tents were on the move at the homeless encampment in front of Taproot Church, La Costa Restaurant and Lucky Donuts at 206 SW 152nd St. in Burien.[videopress UC7JOE3s]Chief Ted Boe and several officers were onsite to ensure a smooth "shifting" of the tents. Homeless campers were made aware in advance, but they were being "reminded" today as the heavy equipment and large rocks were once again added to the median between the property parking lot and the sidewalk.Tents will now be required to be located between the sidewalk and on the south half of the median strip, the remaining portion of city controlled property in the vicinity. We spoke with Sergeant McLaughlin and he assured us that the campers are offered services everyday.Meanwhile, across the street, we spoke with one of the owners of Aya Yoga Oasis. Last night, their power lines were cut. And according to the owner, one of the campers on his property threatened to "break all of his windows" if they were forced to move. There are now 16 tents adjacent to the Burien Police Department.[caption id="attachment_16176" align="aligncenter" width="524"]
