The shimmering colors of "Aurora Borealis" or "Northern Lights" danced across the not-so-northern skies, dazzling Burien viewers.
by Stuart Jenner.
Around 11 pm on Friday May 10, the Northern Lights were visible in the Highline area. These photos were taken by Carrie Jenner using an Android cell phone. Amazing! The colors pop out more in the photos than they did to this writer when looking at the lights in person. In person, there were long streaks appearing to cover much of the sky.
The Northern Lights are the result of geomagnetic storms. Both KING and KIRO had background stories explaining the phenomena.
