Inspire the next generation of environmental stewards and motivate students to care about stormwater and their local streams! We are seeking community members to support StormFest, an interactive stormwater festival for Highline Public Schools 6th-grade students on June 4, 5, and 6, 2024. We are recruiting educators and volunteers. We offer stipends for participation as an educator! No experience as an educator is necessary as training will be provided.

The Green Burien Partnership celebrated Earth Day with two events on Saturday April 20th. Over 60 community members gave back to our planet together at the Miller Creek Trailhead and Hilltop Park. Thank you to everyone who participated in these events and to our wonderful partners at King County, DirtCorps, Environmental Science Center, Innovation Heights Academy, Southwest Youth and Family Services, and King Conservation District who made these events possible.
On April 23, 14 City of Burien staff members from multiple departments celebrated Earth Week in Boulevard Park. Staff joined forces to clear 128 gallons of litter in just one hour from the streets and sidewalks.
Burien has launched a heritage tree program. Please email joshp@burienwa.gov if you know of a tree that could be considered a heritage tree. A heritage tree is a tree with notable characteristics including, but not limited to age, size, location, aesthetics, or association with an event significant to the city of Burien (BMC 19.10.268). The tree must be in healthy and good condition to be considered a candidate for Heritage Tree designation. Heritage trees receive additional protection and raise awareness around the importance of large old trees.
The City of Burien is a vibrant and creative community, where the residents embrace diversity, celebrate arts and culture, promote vitality, and treasure the environment.
